Palmer Broadcasting is formed

Dr. B. J. Palmer forms Palmer Broadcasting with two AM Radio Stations  (WOC in Davenport and WHO in Des Moines, Iowa).  In the 1940s, the company enters the FM radio market, in the 1950s, the television market, in the 1960s the cable television market and in the 1980s the cellular telephone market as Palmer Wireless (PWIR).

McCloskey & Company is formed

Matthew H. McCloskey forms McCloskey & Company, a construction company in Philadelphia.  The Company was responsible for the construction of the Philadelphia Convention Hall, the Sheraton Hotel, and the Washington D.C. Stadium.  By 1950, the company is the 3rd largest construction company in the US, serving primarily the east coast.  The business is expanded to incorporate real estate development.
